Slide Notes

Rhythmic gymnastics is the most difficult and most beautiful sport

What apparatus do gymnasts perform their movements with?

Hoop. This device weighs about 300 grams and has a diameter of eighty centimeters. Made of plastic.

Ball. Its diameter is approximately twenty centimeters, but its weight is quite large - at least 400 grams. The ball is made of plastic or soft rubber.

The next item is the ribbon. It is attached to a special club, the length of which is 50 cm. The ribbon is made of satin or a material similar to satin. Length 70 cm.

Rolling pin. This device does not have a specific length, as it depends on the height of the gymnast. It must be made of plastic or another similar material.

Mace

This item is made of wood or plastic. Both clubs are quite light, only 150 g. This item is made in the shape of a bottle. The size of each club is 40 centimeters, in the narrow part there is a small rounding. The narrow part of the club is called the tip or head, and the wide part is the body.

Ball

According https://usghof.org/overview-of-gymnastics-betting/ exercises with a ball are considered the most beautiful in rhythmic gymnastics: thanks to the smooth rolls and contrasts with which the ball is thrown and caught, the performance is expressive and graceful.

The size of the ball is determined individually by the height of the gymnast and the size of her hand. It is very important that the ball is comfortable to hold, otherwise performing the exercises will become much more difficult. The diameter of the ball for senior group gymnasts performing in competitions is 18-20 centimeters, and the weight is at least 400 grams. Rubber is considered the best material from which the ball is made. Balls made of this material hold tightly and do not slip out of your hands, which allows you to perform any, even the most complex, elements of the routine.

Ribbon

The ribbon is the most difficult apparatus of rhythmic gymnastics, since its “behavior” during training or performances is very unpredictable: it gets tangled easily, and even the ventilation in the hall can affect its position in the air. In addition, when performing with a ribbon, there are a number of difficult rules.

  • The tape should always be in motion.

  • Gymnasts must perform only certain “patterns” in the air.

  • The tape should not touch the athlete’s body.

The length of the ribbon for adult gymnasts is 6 meters, and the length of the stick to which the ribbon is attached is 60 centimeters. The ribbons themselves are usually made of satin or viscose, the sticks for them are made of rubber or fiberglass, and the handle is made of rubber. The stick and ribbon are connected to each other using a thin metal carabiner or nylon pigtail.

This sport appeared not so long ago at the Mariinsky Theater and is considered quite young, but in a short amount of time it has earned universal respect and recognition not only in our country, but throughout the world. After all, there is hardly a person who does not like watching the performance of an elegant, fragile gymnast.

The most important thing for any athlete is to always be in shape and take care of your figure. Therefore, in order to avoid the appearance of extra pounds, gymnasts, like any other athletes, go on diets or take certain medications that protect against the appearance of unnecessary pounds. Rhythmic gymnastics has something in common with artistic gymnastics, but rhythmic gymnastics is less dangerous and more accessible.

The main means of this sport are exercises with an apparatus, without an apparatus, elements of folk and fashionable dances, elements of pantomime and basic gymnastics, rhythm, as well as exercises from acrobatics and other sports.

Hoop

The hoop in gymnastics appeared later than other objects and is the “youngest” in this sport, but it is with it that gymnasts have the opportunity to perform the greatest number of exercises. Various rotations, rolls, tosses, jumps and swings - all this is available to athletes in different variations.

To perform the above exercises well, you need to choose the right hoop. Nowadays, hoops are made of plastic, which allows them to be lightweight and weigh only about 300 grams. The diameter of a standard hoop for a competitive gymnast is 85-90 centimeters.
