PRESENTATION OUTLINE

Rhode Island
Katrina

Rhode Island has 40 miles (64 kilometers) of general coastline.

Hurricanes and great coastal storms called northeaster can bring tremendous amounts of rain and other precipitation.

But today about 60 percent of Rhode Island has retuned to woodland.

Rhode Island's greatest natural resource is Narragansett Bay.

In Rhode Island's early days, waterways were the most important routes of transportation.

Seven of Rhode Island's nine largest cities are clustered around Providence, the largest city.

Early on,Rhode Island was governed by it's Great Charter of 1663.

When European settlers arrived in the early 1630's they found several tribes.

Nearly all of Rhode Island's other rives empty into Narragansett Bay.
