Missouri admitted as slave state.
Maine admitted as a free state.
It led to more tension and lead to the civil war.

The Underground Railroad was the most successful way for a slave to escape. Around 50,000 slaves escaped by the middle of the 19th century.

Henry Clay drafted the compromise which called for the state of California to be admitted as a free state. It also divided some states territory.

Uncle toms cabin is written by Harriet Beecher Stowe. The main idea is the cruelty of slavery. It is about an African American slave for through their struggles which touched many people's hearts.

In the Kansas Nebraska Act Steven Douglas wanted the Railroad thru Chicago. It created Kansas and Nebraska and they use popular sovereignty.

A case about a slave that argued since he had lived in a free state Wisconsin, he was a free man. Dred Scott case ruled that anyone with African blood is not s citizen said living in free territory didn't matter and 5th amendment slaves were property, Calhoun was arguing south liked the dred Scott decision

Lincoln Douglas debate is for the senate seat not for president. Significance is that the newspapers printed out what they said. Douglas will never be president because we can't trust him but Lincoln can be president. He lost the senate race but won the president
