FUNCTIONS OF THE RESPIRATORY SYSTEM

  • The respiratory system is made up of 3 primary parts, the airway, the lungs and the muscles around the airway, lungs.
  • The lungs are responsible for most of the work done by the respiratory system

The respiratory system works in conjunction with the circulatory system in order to oxygenate your blood, air is taken into the left side of the heart after going into the lungs.

The respiratory system works with the nervous system to tell your body when to breath when to let air out.
The respiratory system also works with the digestive system to make sure you don't breathe in food/water
