CRITERIA

  • Famous for 1 or more things.
  • Intelligent with skills in many different areas.
  • Born between 1400-1700.

LEONARDO DA VINCI

LEONARDO DA VINCI

  • Leonardo was born in 1452 and died in 1519.
  • He is known for painting the Mona Lisa and The Last Supper, which are still known as masterpieces today.
  • He is also known for his interests in botany, anatomy, optics, music, architecture, and engineering.

LEONARDO DA VINCI

  • Leonardo was proficient in a wide range of fields.
  • He was very intellectual and his interests in painting still reflect on our lives today.
  • I think Leonardo is a Renaissance man because of his great skill level and broad knowledge. We still hold onto many of his great talents today.

MICHELANGELO

MICHELANGELO

  • Michelangelo was born in 1475 and died in 1564.
  • As a young man, he created many marble masterpieces, including the Pietà.
  • He also created the statue of David.
  • He is also known for his interests in sculpting, engineering, painting, architecture, and poetry.
  • His greatest project known is a large mural covering the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel.

MICHELANGELO

  • Michelangelo was skilled in several fields.
  • His several masterpieces show his great skills and great intelligence.
  • I think Michelangelo is a Renaissance man because he had talents that no one else had. He created many amazing pieces that can never be replaced.

RAPHAEL

RAPHAEL

  • Raphael was born in 1483 and died in 1520.
  • Studied the works of Leonardo and Michelangelo.
  • Known for paintings that blend Christian and classical styles.
  • Learned most of his skills from other famous artists.
  • I think Raphael is a Renaissance man because he used the helps of other people's skills to create his own unique skills. He is a very talented painter.

SHAKESPEAR

SHAKESPEAR

  • Shakespeare was born in 1564 and died in 1616.
  • Was known to be an English poet and playwright, who wrote 37 plays.
  • Many of Shakespear's plays include comedies, love stories, histories, and tragedies.

SHAKESPEAR

  • Many of his plays are still famous today and preformed frequently.
  • I think Shakespear is a Renaissance man because he changed the world of acting and drama. His talents are remembered today by all people.
  • His unique talents were unlike all others.

ERASMUS

ERASMUS

  • Erasmus was born in 1466 and died in 1536.
  • Erasmus was a great Dutch priest and humanist.
  • Used his knowledge of languages to produce a Greek edition of the New Testament.
  • As a priest he was distributed by corruption in the Church and called for reform.

ERASMUS

  • I think Erasmus is a Renaissance man because of his great talents as a priest and a humanist. Many of his skilled changed and helped our world today.

RABELAIS

RABELAIS

  • Rabelais was born in 1494 and died in 1553.
  • French humanist and varied career as a monk, physician, Greek scholar, and author.
  • Offers opinion on religion, education, and other serious matters.
  • I think Rabelais is a Renaissance man because he had various talents and was very intelligent.

MODERN DAY RENAISSANCE MEN CRITERIA

  • Born between 1950-2016.
  • Must be known for creating something and/or won an award of some sort.
  • Must have talents in more than one field.

BILL GATES

BILL GATES

  • Born in 1955. (Age 60)
  • Won the National Medal of Technology and Innovation and is known for being the Co-founder of Microsoft programs.
  • I think Bill Gates is a modern day Renaissance man because of his talents with technology. His talents have influenced lives greatly.

STEVE JOBS

STEVE JOBS

  • Steve Jobs was born in 1955 and died in 2011.
  • Won the National Medal of Technology and Innovation and was also the creator of the Apple products.
  • I think Steve Jobs was a Renaissance man because of his talents that influence our technology today.
