Slide Notes

Over the years, I have witnessed the decline of Man in almost all aspects of life.

The rough, rugged, adventurous, strong man of yesterday seems to be disappearing. I'm not talking about professional athletes but ordinary day-to-day men.

Probably the most noticeable change is more estrogen-nominate (more female estrogen than male testosterone) in men, thus causing a whole host of health issues, including ED - Erectile Dysfunction (starts in men in their 20s). Yes, the 20s!

When the various US military services are worried about the problem, then we have a severe problem. If Teddy knew this, he'd roll over in his grave and cry.

I got a lot of this great information from the Art of Manliness. Thank you for your contribution to man.

Real Man on the right, a whatever on the left..

Men Of Yesteryear & Today - What Happened?

Modern Man A Creature In Decline.....

I grew up among men. I was always surrounded by real men, heroes, if you will. My father was a career military officer for 20 years, at the United States Air Force Air Commando.

My neighbors were all military men, veterans of World War II, Korea, and men like my next-door neighbor Joseph Kittinger.

Nowadays young men entering the military for basic training are in lousy to poor shape and obese. It's pitiful, to say the least.

Fewer Than One in Three Young Americans Can Join Military

The Department of Defense says 71 percent of young Americans between the ages of 17 and 24 would not be accepted into one of the nation’s military services if they volunteered.

Yes, you read that correctly 71%.

Joe Kittinger

My next door neighbor when I was a kid

Joe Kittinger - Project Man-high 1960, setting a world record for the longest skydive from a height greater than 31 km. A fighter pilot during the Vietnam War, he achieved an aerial kill of a North Vietnamese MiG-21 jet fighter and was later shot down himself on May 11, 1972 spending 11 mos as a prisoner of war in a North Vietnamese prison.

Kittinger spent 11 months as a prisoner of war (POW) in the Hỏa Lò Prison, the so-called "Hanoi Hilton." Kittinger was put through rope torture soon after his arrival at the POW compound and this made a lasting impression on him. I was in tears when he was released and happy he was home.

Years later, I had a friendly telephone conversation with the Colonel. I enjoyed immensely his recent participation as a consultant at age 82 in the Red Bull Stratos jump 2012.

An American Hero, Joe Kittinger.

On August 16, 1960 Joe Kittinger became a real-life superhero

Growing up next door to a "Hero. Honored to know this man.

Joseph Kittinger was my next-door neighbor Hurlburt Field Florida - Home of the 1st Air Commandos. My dad was a USAF Air Commando (the Elite).

Charles Branson

When Men Were Men

An American film and television actor.

Bronson was born Charles Dennis Buchinsky in Ehrenfeld in Cambria County in the coal region of the Allegheny Mountains north of Johnstown, Pennsylvania.

He was the 11th of 15 children born to a Lithuanian immigrant father and a Lithuanian-American mother. His father, Walter Bunchinski (who later adjusted his surname to Buchinsky to sound more "American," was an ethnic Lipka Tatar and hailed from the town of Druskininkai.

Bronson's mother, Mary (née Valinsky), whose parents were from Lithuania, was born in the coal mining town of Tamaqua, Pennsylvania. He learned to speak English when he was a teenager; before that, he spoke Lithuanian and Russian.

Bronson was the first member of his family to graduate from high school. When Bronson was ten years old, his father died. Young Charles went to work in the coal mines, first in the mining office and then in the mine. He earned one dollar for each ton of coal that he mined. He worked in the mine until he entered military service during World War II.

His family was so poor that, at one time, he reportedly had to wear his sister's dress to school because of his lack of clothing.

In 1943, Bronson enlisted in the United States Army Air Forces. He served in the 760th Flexible Gunnery Training Squadron and in 1945 as a Boeing B-29 Superfortress aerial gunner with the Guam-based 61st Bombardment Squadron within the 39th Bombardment Group, which conducted combat missions against the Japanese home islands. Bronson flew 25 missions and received a Purple Heart for wounds received in battle.
