• Christianity developed out of Judaism in the first century C.E.
• It is founded on the life, teachings, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ
• Jesus was born in a manger in Bethlehem in Judea
• Jesus was born between 6-4 B.C.
• Jesus was crucified between 30-36 A.D.

CHRISTIANITY DEITY

• Christians believe there is a personal God, Creator, and ruler of the universe
• Christians believe that Jesus was an infinite and eternal being before he became man

CHRISTIANITY RELIGIOUS TEXT

• The primary sacred text of Christianity is the Bible
• The Bible is made of two parts: the old and the new testament
• The Old Testament is almost identical to the Jewish Bible
• The New Testament is a collection of Christian writings

BUDDHISM AFTERLIFE

• Basic Hindu doctrines of reincarnation and karma
• The ultimate goal of the religious life is to escape the cycle of deat and rebirth
• If you pass away with good karma, you will return as a more wealthy or powerful being
• If you pass away with bad karma, you will return as an untouchable

• Founded un the late 6th century B.C.E. by Siddhãrtha Gautama
• Siddhãrtha Gautama was the warrior son of a King and Queen
• He is also known as the "Buddha"

BUDDHISM DEITY

• Gautama Buddha rejected the existence of a creator deity
• Buddha instead emphasizes the natural order (Dharma)
• Dharma means "cosmic law and order" in Buddhism
