In the Bible, the purpose of creation was for God’s pleasure and for His own glory. The creation illustrates His love, grace, mercy, wisdom, goodness, and power. It explained how everything in the universe was created and how we're meant to glorify God through our actions, heart, and will.

In the Quran, the purpose of creation was for guidance to each person to worship God. It is a narrative that the Holy Qur'an is God's message to man.

Similarities in the Creation Story

  • God created everything just by speaking it.
  • Man was created from soil and God breathed life into him

Literary structure and style in the Bible

  • The Beginning of the Creation story which is found in Genesis is written in poetry form, even though it doesn't rhyme it is metered.
  • There is parallelism and each verse begins with an anaphora.
  • Chapter 2 of Genesis is written in prose and the tone is simple.

Literary structure and style in the Qur'an

  • The style of the Quran is unique and it uses rhetoric and lots of imagery, rhythm and sound.
  • Irony is seen when they are tempted to eat the forbidden fruit they were told they would change into angels but in the Quran that would be seen as lowering themselves since they were already considered higher than angels
