• Finding the approximate age of a fossil found with in a rock .

How to tell if the fossil young or old

• If the fossil is at or close to a top layer it is young
• If it is the deepest layer then it is the oldest

The gray layer at the top is the youngest because it is at the top
The green layer at the bottom is the oldest because it is at the bottom
