PRESENTATION OUTLINE

RELATIVE DATING

Relative dating can be used to find the approximate age of fossils.

The oldest are towards the bottom and the youngest are towards the top.

The estimate age is made by comparing ages of rock layers found above and below the layer.

Paleontologists use two methods to find fossil age. They are relative dating and radiometric dating. They can use one or both to find the age.
