SIGNIFICANCE...

  • A lack of physical exercise increases the risk of many major health conditions such as:
  • Heart disease
  • Increased blood pressure
  • Stroke
  • Diabetes
  • Obesity
  • High Cholesterol

STATISTICS...

  • Less than a third of Australians aged 15 years and over are receiving enough physical activity and two-thirds (67 per cent) are either sedentary or have low levels of exercise.
  • Physical inactivity is responsible for more than five million deaths globally per year.
  • Only one in five (19 per cent) of 5 to 17 year olds conduct enough physical activity to meet the Australian guidelines of 60 minutes per day.

  • A few tips maintain a healthy lifestyle with sufficient physical exercise:
  • Use public transport/walk.
  • Workout from home instead of the gym to save money and time.
  • Join a sport club/team.
