• A government agency that helped the freed slaves
• By 1970 it had been weakened

14th AMENDMENT

• A requirement of the congressional plan for reconstruction
• There is still reconstruction

15th AMENDMENT

• A requirement of the congressional plan for reconstruction

KU KLUX KLAN

• A secret group who's goals were to restore democratic control
• of the south, and to keep former slaves powerless
• They ran through the streets killing people.

MARCH 8 1870

• President Ulysses S. Grant declared the reconstruction process in Texas
• There is still reconstruction now.

GOVERNOR EDMOND DAVIS

• The 14th governor of Texas from 1870-1874
• He supported Sam Houston.
