Reasons to have good posture while typing

Sit up straight

  • Helps avoid pressure on the spine.
  • Helps prevent muscle fatigue; slouching.

Keep feet on the floor

  • They help balance your body for keyboarding.
  • Crossing your ankles or knees puts a strain on your spine.

Proper finger positions

  • Will cause you to make less typing mistakes.
  • Keeping fingers on row will help with stretching your arms.

Elbows in

  • Prevents your fingers from coming off home row 
  • Prevents striking other keys 

Proper wrist positions

  • Helps avoid fatigue in your hands.

Eyes on computer screen

  • Lose time from speed or type a wrong line, skip words, repeat a line, etc.

Distance from keyboard

  • Sitting too close:  
  • You won't be able to reach the keys below
  • Sitting too far: 
  • You won’t be able to reach the keys above
