PRESENTATION OUTLINE

7 CATHOLIC SOCIAL TEACHINGS

BY PRISH,LILY AND HAYLEY

EVALUATION

  • What each social teaching means and how it helps others:

SOLIDARITY

  • Solidarity is how we treat others like our own brothers or sisters, forming a type of fellowship between each other. We help others by making them feel part of the group, giving them responsibilities and feelings of purpose.

HUMAN DIGNITY

  • Human Dignity is the main roots of the catholic social teachings, it is understanding the needs of others in our community and respecting their own rights and choices.

STEWARDSHIP

  • Stewardship is us catholics acknowledging that God is our creator, he is like the roots of a tree, without those roots, the tree wouldn't stand. Some of us take things for granted, but when we are acting with stewardship, we don't take our catholic teachings for granted, we appreciate and are thankful for our religion we belong to.

COMMON GOOD

  • Common good is when we respect others rights and differences, we don't judge each other based on their opinions, we look deeper at their natural wellbeing and understand that they are part of our life and we need to learn to appreciate them being part of it.

PARTICIPATION

  • Participation is when we notice people who try to help as part of the community, they help us and we help them 'treating others as they would like to be treated.' We participate to help our community grow, and they help us as well, we need to be thankful for what they do to help us.

PREFERENTIAL OPTION POOR AND VULNERABLE

  • Preferential Option for the poor & vulnerable is when we reach out a helping hand to those who need it, whether they are living on the street or not, part of our community or not, different nationalities. No matter what we need to help those who want a helping hand or a shoulder to lean on.

SUBSIDIARITY

  • Subsidiarity is when we make responsible decisions and changes, appropriately to the task at hand, for example if we need to rearrange furniture in our house, we wouldn't need to write a letter to the queen asking her if we can.

SOLIDARITY

  • Solidarity- when we practise solidarity we are able to put ourselves in other people's shoes and to understand what it is like to Live like people who may not be as fortunate as us and we learn to always help those people that need it and we learn how to be kind and caring.

HUMAN DIGNITY

  • Human dignity- when we practice human dignity we learn to not judge people on their looks because we know that God created everyone is his image and to respect everyone and to be equal to one another.

STEWARSHIP

  • Stewardship- when we practise stewardship we learn that we need to look after gods gifts especially the environment because God trusts us to look after his beautiful creation.

COMMON GOOD

  • Common good- when we practise common good we learn to always help people when they need it and to never expect anything in return.

PARTICIPATION

  • Participation- we learn that everyone has a part to play in our society and to always respect that. We realise that no matter who they are or where they come from they are always welcomed to be a part of the society.

SOLIDARITY

  • Solidarity: Without the social teaching of solidarity, I think we wouldn't respect and appreciate how much we have because we wouldn't understand that there are people that are less fortunate than us. We also wouldn't want to help others because we would be thinking of the less fortunate in a wrong way and wouldn't want anything to do with them because we didn't understand the way that they have to live.

HUMAN DIGNITY

  • Human dignity: Without human dignity people wouldn't respect each other, they will judge other by what they look like forgetting that we were all made in God's great imagine.

STEWARDSHIP

  • Stewardship: Without stewardship, community wouldn't care for Gods great creation. The world would be fully polluted and would be disgusting. All loveliness of nature would be gone. And our relationship with God will start to crumble.

COMMON GOOD

  • Common good: Without common good we won't do any good for others out of the good of our hearts. And if we do we will expect something in return like money.

PARTICIPATION

  • Participation: Without participation in catholic society no one will take part and people will get left out of many events. They will just do it the easy way by relying on others to do their jobs instead of ourselves.

PREFERENTIAL OPTIPN POOR AND VULNERABLE

  • Preferential option for the poor and vulnerable Without this we will not put others before us, we will only do good for ourselves instead of others and we will start to become selfish and won't care for others.

SUBSIDIARITY

  • Subsidiarity: Without subsidiarity we wouldn't be able to make hard decisions for ourselves. We would rely on others to do it for us so we wouldn't have courage to make a choice.
