  • Rachel Renee Russell says that her inspiration for creating books is her 2 daughters, Nikki and Erin. " my daughters are a lot like Nikki maxwell-VERY DORKY. I have wrote books since I was a 6th grader." She likes to relate the books not just to her daughters, but also her middle school years.

  • I grew up in Saint Joseph, Michigan, a small city on the shore of Lake Michigan.
  • I have 2 younger sisters and 2 younger twin brothers.

  • I have two daughters, Erin and Nikki. Although Nikki maxwell is named after my youngest daughter, Nikki, her personality is a combination of myself, Erin and Nikki.

  • The dork diaries series was recently optioned as a movie by lionsgate sumit films. This means that all of my adorable fans will see all their favorite dork diaries characters on the big screen!!SCUEEE!!! How cool would that be?!? I'm so excited because bringing Nikki maxwell and her family and friends to life will be a dream come true!!!
