Q2W3 Weathering and Erosion Quiz Review

How does an alluvial fan form?

A stream runs down a mountain. It gathers bits and pieces of the mountain. At the bottom, is slows down and the sediment gathers.

When it rains a ton, what happens to streams and rivers?

The water moves faster and it covers more land than it usually would. This causes more erosion.

Chemical Weathering

Chemical reactions, new substances, makes rocks crumble

Physical Weathering

The cracks are physical weathering.  The rock is smaller.  The rock is still here.

Erosion

Stuff is gone. It was carried away.

Deposition

Matter is dropped off in a new place.

Weathering = smaller pieces

More water = More erosion

landslide?

Thanks gravity :(

more speed
more energy
more erosion
