PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT

Climate is the long term weather of an area.

Global warming is when the sun gives off heat to earth and earth’s greenhouse gases keeps the warmth on the earth.Earth’s blanket gets thicker which keeps in more heat.

One of the biggest climate change problems is ice glaciers melting. The ice glaciers melting causes acidity. It kills the plankton which gives us 50% of our oxygen.

Our energy use contributes to climate change with our overuse of vehicles such as cars or boats that burn fossil fuels.

One way we overuse our natural resources is we are chopping down trees quicker than the trees can grow back. We then have less oxygen.

Renewable energy does not release greenhouse gasses. Nonrenewable energy does, and it takes a very long time to renew (half a million - a million years)

Some of the new technologies we have are solar electricity, solar energy, and photovoltaic systems.

When you buy groceries buy local food or try to buy food with bio- degradable packaging.

FUN FACTS

  • Every three months, Americans discard enough aluminum to completely rebuild every single commercial airplane in America.
  • Approximately 1 billion trees worth of paper are thrown away every year in the U.S.
  • The average time taken by plastic bottles to decompose in a landfill is close to 700 years.
  • Glass is one of the very few products that can be recycled continuously...FOREVER.
