National Film Board (NFB)

  • Produces Canadian films, documentaries and animations
  • English and French language productions
  • Famous for "Canadian Vignettes" - produced in the 70's/80's that highlighted Canadian culture

Canada Council for the Arts

  • Works to promote Canadian artists and their work
  • Provides funding for Canadian Artists, including Aboriginal Art

Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC)

  • Concieved in 1929 to combat American Radio
  • English, French and Aboriginal TV, Radio and Internet programming
  • Crown Corporation
  • Hockey Night in Canada

Canadian Radio-Television Telecommunications Commision (CRTC)

CRTC

  • looks after radio television/cells/internet in Canada
  • creates laws for Canadian Media
  • Radio: 30% music must be Canadian (65% French in Quebec)
  • CBC: 60% programs must be Canadian
  • Other TV: 30% Canadian
