  • 373 students grades 6th-8th
  • 69% minority enrollment (68% Hispanic/1% Asian)
  • 2016-17 CMAS math proficiency 17% (State avg. 33%)
  • 2016-17 CMAS Reading/LA prof. 39% (State avg. 42%)
  • School ranking based on combine scores: 870 of 1704
  • 36% free lunch and 15% reduced lunch
  • No existing RTI structure or team

Adult Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the need and purpose of tiered supports
  • Identify students in need of intervention
  • Implement identified strategies consistently
  • Track progress of interventions & adjust if needed
  • Communicate with RTI team consistently

Professional Development Proposed:

  • In-house professional development regarding Response to Intervention (RTI). Starting with purpose of interventions, identification of students, and ending with the implementation of an RTI Team.

The Three-Year Plan

  • Year 1--study and implement Tier 1 strategies
  • Year 2--review Tier 1 and implement a limited number of structured Tier 2 strategies
  • Year 3--review Tiers 1 and 2. Learn/implement more Tier 2 strategies and increase accountability.

Evalution of learning

  • Interventions will regularly be implemented with fidelity and documented consistently.
  • RTI team will have regular, structured meetings.
  • Growth on formal and standardized testing will indicate growth for identified students.
