PROBABILITY

BY: MARK HAYES

What is Probability?

Probability is how likely something is to happen.
An example is if you have 2 blue chips and 3 red chips in a bag, that you will have 3/5 of a chance to pick a red chip.

How do you determine the likelihood of an event?
The formula to determine the likelihood of an event is:
The number of wanted outcomes
----------------------------
The number of possible outcomes

An example is you having 5/6 of a chance to grab a blue marble out of a bag.

What is a complement?
A complement is all the ways an event can't happen.

What is the difference between theoretical and experimental probability?
Theoretical probability is the probability that is calculated using math formulas and in the experimental probability you do trials in real life situations.

On the theoretical probability you use math formulas to help decide the outcome instead of doing an experiment with trials.
