PRESENTATION OUTLINE
DOMAIN-The set of all inputs for which a function or relation is defined.
RANGE-The set of all outputs of a function or relation.
INTERVAL NOTATION-A notation for representing an interval as a pair of numbers.
INDEPENDENT VARIABLES-a variable (often denoted by x ) whose variation does not depend on that of another.
DEPENDENT VARIABLES-a variable (often denoted by y ) whose value depends on that of another.
FUNCTIONS-A function is a rule which relates the values of one variable quantity to the values of another variable quantity
INTERVALS OF INCREASING AND DECREASING-the domain of a function where its value is getting larger or smaller
LOCAL MAXIMUM-the value of a function at a certain point in its domain
ABSOLUTE MAXIMUM- the largest value
LOCAL MINIMUM- a local (or relative) maximum point at the point x
ABSOLUTE MINIMUM-the smallest value a given function assumes on a specified set
