BLESSING

• To bless is to dedicate someone or something to God or to make something holy in God's name. God continually blesses us with many gifts.
• An example is at Confirmation party. People give the candidate gifts in the name of God.

PETITION

• Prayers of petition are prayers in which we ask something of God. Asking for forgiveness is the most important petition
• An example is when we study for test and ask that we do good.

INTERCESSION

• Type of petition. When we pray a prayer of intercession, we are asking something on behalf of another person or group of people
• Ex. Cheering for your favorite sports team

THANKSGIVING

• Prayers of thanksgiving show our gratitude for God and all he has done for us.
• Ex. Praying for thanks on "thanksgiving"

PRAISE

• Prayers of praise give you glory to God for being God. They do not include thanks or gratitude, they are just praying to God because he is God.
• Ex. Praying before bed
