• Pigs are the intermediate host
• Humans are the primary host
• Pork tapeworms are hermaphrodites
• Lead to a disease called cysticercosis
• Drugs can be taken to dissolve the worm to treat it

PORK TAPEWORM (TAENIA SOLIUM)

• When tapeworms are ingested it usually takes 10-12 weeks to become adult
• Anchor down in a persons intestines and take nutrients in through skin
• Pork tapeworms have no digestive system and are very simplistic
• Good sanitation and cooking pork meat thoroughly is best way to avoid it
