Ideology
Def:a basic set of political beliefs about the roles of government and the individual in society.

Conservatism
Def:an ideology favoring a limited role for government and more private initiative by nongovernmental groups in efforts to solve society’s problems.

Liberalism
Def:an ideology favoring an active role for government in efforts to solve society’s problem.

Centrism
Def: Is a political outlook or specific position that involves acceptance or support of a balance of a degree of social equality and a degree of social hierarchy, while opposing political changes which would result in a significant shift of society either strongly to the left or the right

Political Party
Def: A political party is defined as an organised group of people with at least roughly similar political aims and opinions, that seeks to influence public policy by getting its candidates elected to public office.

Two party system
Def: A two-party system is a party system where two major political parties dominate the government. One of the two parties typically holds a majority in the legislature and is usually referred to as the majority or governing party while the other is the minority or opposition party

Platform
Def: Is a formal set of principle goals which are supported by a political party or individual candidate

Third party
Def:A party that forms independently of the two main political parties.

Independent voter
Def: A voter who does not have long-standing loyalty to, or identification with, a political party; a voter who does not usually vote for the same political party from election

Candidate
Def: A person who applies for a job or is nominated for election.
