Pluto has a mean radius of 715 miles (1,151 kilometers), less than 20 percent that of Earth.

The dominating gas in Pluto's atmosphere is nitrogen. Carbon monoxide and methane are also present.

Pluto's surface is one of the coldest places in the solar system at roughly minus 375 degrees F (minus 225 degrees C).
