PLATE TECTONICS
A theory explaining the structure of the earth's crust and many associated phenomena as resulting from the interaction of rigid lithospheric plates that move slowly over the underlying mantle.
Plate tectonics is the theory that Earth's outer shell is divided into several plates that glide over the mantle, the rocky inner layer above the core.
Convection Currents
Is the transfer of heat by the mass movement of heated particles into an area of cooler fluid
Divergent Plate Boundary
is a linear feature that exists between two tectonic plates that are moving away from each other.

is the portion of motion of a tectonic plate that can be accounted for by its subduction.

Subduction Zone
is the process that takes place at convergent boundaries by which one tectonic plate moves under another tectonic plate and sinks into the mantle as the plates converge.

is a type of fault whose relative motion is predominantly horizontal in either sinistral or dextral direction.
