TYPES OF PLANTS

CAM PLANTS

• Ex: Jade Plant, Cacti, Pineapple Plant
• CAM plants fix carbon for arid conditions
• Leaves remain closed during the day, open at night
• Characterized by thick waxy leaves,

C4 PLANTS

• Ex: Corn, Sugar Cane, Sorghum
• Helps keep RuBiSco formation from building up
• Requires more energy for carbon fixation to occur
• Most are crop style plants, and have mostly the same characteristics

C3 PLANTS

• Ex: Rice, Trees, Wheat
• Normal method of carbon fixation
• Inefficient as if climate changes, can die
• From over production of oxygen
• Normal characteristics of plants.
