Genre Idea ad themes

  • Thriller
  • Social realism/team drama elements
  • Revenge
  • Outcast
Our initial ideas for genre would be thriller.
Our idea also contains some elements of social realism e.g. the setting of a school and the girls age is undeniably that from a teen drama/social realism stereotype.

The potential genre ideas that we think should be involved is revenge and being an outcast. We feel that this suits well with our initial plot line.

Main Character

  • Female
  • Tabitha
Our main character is a Girl Called Tabitha. who is finishing her last year at college.

Tabitha, a girl at the age of 17 is finishing her last year at college when an unexpected death occurs. This throws her out of control as her mental state is compromised and she seeks revenge on classmates

Our basic plot line is this:

Film Influences

  • Carrie - Main Character is a female
  • Elephant - School shooting
  • Columbine - School shooting
  • The Loved Ones - Branding/female
Our film influences are slightly unconventional as most of our examples are that from the horror or supernatural/psychological horror genre.

Carrie is a good example, as she is also a female main character who seeks revenge on classmates - however this movie is mainly horror based e.g. the blood.

Elephant is one of our examples, as it shows troubles teens (around the same age as Tabitha) shooting down the school and so has a similar plot line.

Columbine is a natural example as it's one of the most well known historical shootings in a school and so can show a more serous sick side to a school shooting.

The Loved Ones is again another good example, as we like the branding and female main character. she shows clear signs of her mental state being compromised and she comes off as a little crazy and so is an ideal example for our main character.

Other film influences that we have and like the style of is Zero day and Heart of america. Although the filming style and camerawork are slightly different to what we want to achieve, we believe that the initial plot line is similar to what we want to achieve

Target Audience

  • 16-25
  • Middle Class/working class/students
  • Male and Female
Our target audience category is 16-25 year old. We feel this suitable as the demographics shown for Carrie, the loved ones and elephant is mainly this age group and so is idea for us.

Also the main character is in this age group and so people within this age group may find it easier to understand and find empathy

We feel that both male and female audiences will be intrigued to watch our movie after seeing our trailer. (Perhaps more female) due to colour scheme and build up of main female character. However, the underlying violence may appeal to the male market.

We also feel that Middle class/working class and students would be most likely to watch our movie

Unique Selling Point

  • Female main character matching our plot
One of our clear Unique Selling Points is that out initial idea has never been done before, and there are limited female main characters who take on such a violent role and act of doing such and so we feel that there's a gap in the market for us to create this.
