ORIGINAL PURPOSE

• Breed originated in Britain and moved to America before reaching the rest of the world
• Bred originally to take down bulls and fight off bears
• The agility of a terrier and strength of a mastiff provides a great farm dog
• The American pit bull was bred to herd and cattle the semi-wild livestock
• Studies done on aggressiveness in pits narrowed the myth to Rottweiler based breeds
