HYPOTHESIS
We decided that the pillbugs would most likely move towards the light.
Instead, they seemed to move towards it, away, and then back again every few minutes.
RESULT EXPLANATION
Three main factors were most likely the cause of this behavior: the heat radiated from the lamp, the urge to hide from the any possible threats, and the wishful sense to explore, finding food and moisture. If too hot or too cold, too tired or too hungry, the pillbug could end up on either side. However, the sense of predator-related fear slightly encourages it to stick to the darkness, slightly shifting the results.
ADDITIONAL QUESTIONS
It would be helpful to test the experiment again without the effects of the heat, taking out one more variable to consider. Although it is hard to test an experiment without excess variables.
