pikes are a preditor of freshwater. they are long and muscular usually greenish blue on the top but orange on the bottom. they are usually found in large lakes

  • 30to 50 inches long
  • can weigh up to 50 lbs
  • life-span is about 7 yrs

HABITAT

  • large lakes

SPAWNING

  • pikes lay about 25,000 eggs
  • most of them get eaten by the mother
  • young pikes that actually hatch vary in number

  • they can detect prey from riples in the water
  • they have sharp teeth
  • they are a trophy fish
  • they can eat fish up to 1/3 of their size
  • they are related to the pike
