MY PROJECT ON GAMMA RAYS

BY TYLER CLAIRMONT

MY RESEARCH Question

HOW CAN WE USE GAMMA RAYS IN EVERY DAY LIFE?

BACK Ground INFO

  • the speed of gamma rays is equal to the speed of light that is 3 x 108 m/sec.
  • Gamma rays have shortest wavelength rays which was discovered by humans.

WAVELENGTH AND FREQUENCY

  • Gamma rays have the frequency of 3*1019 Hz
  • and wavelengths of -10000000000

FACTS ABOUT GAMMA RAYS

  • The gamma rays produced in the space are absorbed by earth’s atmosphere.
  • Gamma ray are identical to microwaves or light with the difference of the very high energy.

USES FOR GAMMA Rays

  • It is used for treatment of cancerous cells in our body without the use of surgery.
  • It is used in industries to kill the harmful bacteria, organisms like yeast etc.

USES FOR GAMMA Rays CONTUINED

  • Gamma rays are used by Engineers, since they can penetrate better than X-rays, to look for cracks in pipes and aircraft parts
  • One of the destructive use is their important role in development of the atomic bomb.

HOW ARE THEY CREATED

  • As certain radioactive nuclei decay that releases gamma rays

POTENTIAL DANGERS

  • The first danger is that it can cause cancer
  • It can lead to potential death
