SECTION ONE

  • The first educational program for physicians assistants began in 1965 developed by Dr. Eugene stead
  • Many corpse men were returning from the Vietnam war who were well trained to address trauma and surgical conditions.
  • Important people include Dr.eugene stead, Natilie F Holt, Charles L Hudson, Henry K silver, Blair L Salder.

SECTION TWO

  • To become a PA step 1: prerequisites and healthcare experience. Step 2: attend PA program. Step 3: become certified. Step4:obtain a state license. Step5:maintain certification.
  • Schools that offer these programs locally are Wayne state university, Oakland university, UoM, MSU, UoD mercy.
  • It takes a total of 6 years to complete all requirements and become a PA.
  • First you become something small in the medical field(RN, surgical tech,eat) then you can apply and complete the PA program. After becoming a PA it is possible to go back to school and become a physician.

SECTION3

  • Daily duties of a PA include review patients history, examine patients,order diagnostic tests,preform minor procedures, assist in surgeries, ect.
  • PA usually work in hospitals, rehab centers, senior citizens home, medical centers, and they can work anywhere from 20-80+ hours a week.
  • They are required to wear scrubs when doing hands on procedures with patients and business professional when consulting.
  • A PA will report to the doctor about a patients well being and anyone on the patients case will report to the PA
  • Annual salary is 90,930 and 43.72 hourly (average)
  • Types Of benefits: professional liability, individual health, family health,dental, disability, term life, pension retirement.

SECTION 4

  • Challenging parts of this career would probably be balancing all the different patients. Plus they tend to work many hours and that is conflicting if you have a family at home. The positive side if caring for people who need your help.
  • In Michigan, the US and just in general the job market is high because the medical field is constantly growing.
  • PA's aren't really affected by the economic downturn because people are always going to be sick or hurt. This career is only going to grow as technology will help develop new ways for doctors to practice medicine.
  • Any local emergency room, hospital, medical center, ect are always offering PA position
  • Being a PA is helpful to society because they help the doctor and by them helming it makes the doctor to faster and more sufficient work

Being a physicians assistant is important so that the medical field is able to run faster and smoother by having an extra experienced and capable helping hand. This job is perfect for me because if offers great benefits, I long to help people and the schooling isn't exhaustingly long.
