PRESENTATION OUTLINE

COMPARING PHOTOSYNTHESIS AND CELLULAR RESPIRATION

By Courtney Seale- 1st

PHOTOSYNTHESIS

  • Reactants- 6CO2 +6H2O +sunlight
  • Products- C6H12O6 +6O2

PURPOSE OF PHOTOSYNTHESIS

  • To create energy for the plant to make food and oxygen

PHOTOSYNTHESIS IS CREATED IN

  • The chloroplast

BASIC STEPS OF PHOTOSYNTHESIS

  • Light and water go into the Light Cycle
  • Light Cycle produces oxygen, ATP, NADPH
  • To
  • Carbon Dioxide goes into the Dark Cycle
  • Dark Cycle produces CH2O, ADP, NADP

ROLE OF ATP, REACTION, AND ORGANISMS

  • Role of ATP- ATP creates energy for the plant to make glucose/oxygen
  • Type of reaction- Anabolic(synthesis)
  • Autotrophs/plants perform this process

CELLULAR RESPIRATION

Every living organism does this!

CELLULAR RESPIRATION EQUATION AND PURPOSE

  • Reactants- C6H12O6 +6O2
  • Products- 6CO2+ 6H2O+ ATP
  • The purpose is to create energy/ATP for the organism

WHERE DOES CELLULAR RESPIRATION TAKE PLACE

  • The mitochondria

PROCESS OF CELLULAR RESPIRATION

  • Glucose goes into Glycosis which produces 2 ATP(outside mitochondria)
  • In mitochondria, oxygen goes into Kreb's Cycle which produces 2 ATP
  • In mitochondria, oxygen goes into the BIG Electron Transport produces 32-34 ATP
  • CO2 and H2O is produced from this process

ROLE OF ATP, REACTION, TYPE OF ORGANISM

  • Role of ATP- useable energy for the organism
  • Type of reaction- catabolic(digestion)
  • All living organisms use cellular respiration
