PRESENTATION OUTLINE

BIOGEOCHEMICAL CYCLE

  • The flow of chemical elements and compounds between living organisms and the physical environment

HOW ENERGY MOVES THROUGH IN THE PHOSPHORUS

HOW MATTER MOVES IN THE PHOSPHORUS CYCLE

1ST LAW OF THERMODYNAMICS

  • This law is often called the Law of Conservation of Energy.
  • This law states that energy can be changed from one form to another, but it cannot be created nor destroyed.
  • Energy constantly changes from one form to another, but the total amount of energy available in the universe is constant.

2ND LAW OF THERMODYNAMICS

  • This law states that all energy exchanges if no energy enters or leaves the system.
  • The potential energy of the new state will always be less than that of the initial.

BIOGEOCHEMICAL CYCLE

  • Relating to or denoting the cycle in which chemical elements and simple substances are transferred between living systems and environments.
