STUFF

  • PKU is when you lack phenylalanine, an enzyme, in the blood. Phenylalanine is the building block in proteins, so with it not there you can't break down protein very well.

SYMPTOMS OF PKU

  • delayed development,learning disability,or slow growth
  • slowness in activity and thought
  • Skin may develop rashes and become pale
  • body (urine) odor, hyperactivity, seizures

How do you prevent PKU?

You don't!

SPREAD THE LOVE

  • Its a genetic disorder, so it is pasted down through genes

DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT

  • It is diagnosed at infantry
  • Is treated though a regulated diet of very little protein
