PRESENTATION OUTLINE

PERSPECTIVE

Everyone's perspective is impacted by their upbringing, culture, background, and personal experiences, and it is imperative to remember this diversity of frame of reference to create a culturally respectful and aware world. Everyone is malleable from a young age, and is susceptible to outside influences. Nobody is born with their own opinions, but inherits the opinions of those who are with them the most.

Stereotypes which seem small can lead to assumptions that a person is something, which can lead to bigger problems, such as racism, sexism, and discrimination.
Children learn mindsets from their parents through obedience, they know nothing about treating people differently, but are loyal to their parents, and until they are of age in their teens when they begin to question their parents morals, they will usually contain the same mindsets

Stereotyping is almost human nature, at one point in everyone's life, they will characterize an individual by the group of people they fall under. Nobody is born with this knowledge of common stereotypes, rather they pick them up from the world around them. These stereotypes lead to many problems in our society.

When I was a young child, I was innocent and thought that the world was an overall good place. Watching shows like Tellytubbies and Barney solidified this mindset. As I got older, however, I began to be exposed to darker things, I learned what sarcasm was, and how to make fun of people

When I went to public schools, I was thrown into a violent tornado of racial slurs and un-politically correct vibes. I knew nothing about the tension between races, or the stereotype that african american's liked chicken. I started life out having know opinions towards diversity, and respect to all kinds of people. After I went to school, this changed rapidly.

As I grew older I began to watch more adult-oriented TV shows, once again I was ripped from the constraints of my somewhat innocent life, and pulled into a tsunami of racist, sexist, prejudiced ideas.
