Personal Mission Statement

Kiana Stadler

Only 3% of figure skaters are double gold medalists, which is the highest level of skating. I'm proud to say that I am in that 3%.

3 years ago I almost quit skating due to the nerve wracking experiences of competing. No matter how trained I was, I always second guessed myself when I stepped out on to the ice in front of the judges, and that mind set of second guessing crept into my daily life.

When I became the first double gold medalist in Ames, Iowa and 3rd in the state of Iowa, I started to believe in myself more and more. Yet everyday is still a constant struggle.

When I got a new coach 3 years ago, it was one of the most frustrating things ever. I had to relearn my technique due to being taught incorrectly the first time. My new coach pushed me beyond my limits. Everyday she told me "Skate for yourself. You can do the elements. You need to believe in yourself."

With the struggles of my old coach teaching me wrong, I've made it my goal to educate myself more and push myself to become a better coach for my students.

My biggest mentor is my coach and best friend, Abigail. She went to Indiana to train and went to Nationals and has skated against some of the biggest names in skating. She knows what pressure is like and she also battled her mind when competing. She has helped me with my thinking and has been guiding me through the process of becoming a coach.

My Personal Mission Statement:
To push myself to stay positive and not to over think things. I am striving to become a well-rounded, educated, professional coach in order to benefit not only myself, but my students.

Throughout High School I've learned how to keep pushing through hard times in my training, because it often reflects my school work as well. I've learned how to do things that will make me happy and ignore the people who doubt me and my goals.

Within my 15 years of skating, I've found my happy place on the ice, yet remaining in that state of mind is still challenging, and I'm also currently on my way to become a coach.
