Personal Wellness

Stay Motivated (But don't burn out)
All things start with you. So you have to be in a good place before you start succeeding in all areas of your life. I'm not saying you need be at 100% all the time before doing things, but if you're not focused on yourself and your needs, then you will let other areas drop.

It's okay to be selfish! You are important. Remember that you should always be striving for your goals, But spread it out. Don't set all your goals and try to reach them all during the same time period. Have a plan to not burn out, and recognize when you are over worked.

Self-Directed

More than the minimum
You learn because you want to. You might be here because your parents said so, but you're going to learn because you care. What that motivation is will be different for every person, but it has to be grounded within yourself. Self Directed learning is very effective because it's your choice and it's your passion. Run with it!

It's important when being self directed in your choices that you do more than the minimum. Doing the bare minimum will keep you in the same place. In order to go anywhere you should challenge yourself. Be uncomfortable. That's the only way you'll grow as a person. Be comfortable with the uncomfortable and you can do anything.

When was the last time you were uncomfortable? What did you learn?

Self-Actualization

Be realistic
The goal that we are all trying to reach is a place where we are who we are truly meant to be. Self-Actualization is always the goal, but not the easiest to achieve. This life long process might seem too far away, but if you set your mind on your goals, you'll know you are always getting closer.

When you think of where you want to be, being realistic is important, but also you need to be okay with failure. Every moment of failure is an opportunity to learn. I really mean this. Every setback is the universe telling you that wasn't the right path for you.

Learning experiences can be just as valuable as the mistakes that lead you to them.

Think about a time where a perceived setback ended up putting you in the right place.

Integrity

Responsible decision making
People that you connect with should want to say that you possess integrity. You need to be a voice of responsible decision making, and knowing that you can make a decision that is ethical and just and be confident that you are doing the right thing.

So often we do things because those around us are doing them as well. We need to think about making decisions and choosing things that are responsible.

Let's say you have an exam the next morning at 8am, and your friend wants to take you out. What is the best choice for your academics?

A little tougher, you hear your friend talking down another friend that you know has trouble standing up for themselves. What is the right decision there?
