How and WHy Trade changed over time

People and economics is the relationship between the economic system and the people within it, in this case, it is specifically focused on trade. Trade progressed from simple limited trade in the Russian feudalistic society to the age of imperialism used by Europeans in both Africa and Asia. The change in trade, from feudalism in Russia during the 1600's to imperialism in Africa and Asia from the late 1800's to early 1900's was the result of the contrasting ruling styles.

Feudalism in Russia in the 1600's was a system of government that had many different social classes. The kings were on top, and held most of the power, then came the nobles, knights, and peasants at the bottom. Serfs, who were peasants, worked land on their lord's property, and were forced to pay a fee to complete simple tasks, such as using roads, ovens, or mills. Trade and economic growth was very limited and simple at the time, because of the feudalistic rule.

Imperialism in Africa from late 1800's was when the dominant European nations competed among each other to unfairly decide which parts of Africa each other get. African colonies, who had been living on that land previously, had no say in the matter. Using a direct or indirect rule, a protectorate, or spheres of influence, Europe took advantage of African colonies, to benefit themselves. Through imperialism in Africa, Europeans gained more power, resources, and trade. Trade in imperialistic Africa was more effective than trade in feudal Russia.

Imperialism in Asia was a period of time in the 1800's when Asian countries realized they had to westernize to compete with other nations. At the time, the strong European forces all utilized imperialism, and because of this, most Asian nations either willingly started to use imperialism, or were forced into it by Europeans like China was. Imperialism being brought to Asia increased trade because of the different styles of ruling, especially spheres of influence, which was similar to what had been done in Africa.
