PELVIC INFLAMMATORY DISEASE

ALSO KNOWN AS PID

TRANSMISSION

  • Sexually transmitted disease.
  • Transmitted through oral, douching,anal and vaginal intercouse
  • More than one sexual partner
  • Nontreatment of previous std
  • Use of Inter uteran devises

WHAT IS IT

  • Infection of women's reproductive organs.
  • Infection spreads upward from the cervix to the uterius, philopian tubes, ovaries, and surrounding structures.
  • Caused by complications from clamidiaa and gonorrhea
  • Not always caused by sexual activity
  • It is a bacteria. Polymicrobial infection

DEATH RATE

  • No death rate

INFECTION RATE

  • One out of eight women have PID

SYMPTOMS

  • Chronic pelvic pain
  • Infertility
  • Morning sensation when urinating
  • Lower abdominal pain
  • Unusual discharge and vaginal bleeding

  • Painful intercourse
  • Some cases results in ectopic pregnancy
  • Bleeding between menstrual cycle

TREATABULITY

  • Treatable with antibiotics if caught early
  • Cant repair any damage already done
  • Can be reoccurring from sexual partner if they are not treatable
  • Treat sexual partner and yourself with antibiotics
