PEARL HARBOR

BACKROUND

• Pearl Harbor is a naval base
• Located on the island of Oahu, Hawaii
• Pearl Harbor was a location to many naval ships, fighter planes and many more warstock
• Pearl Harbor was built in 1911

BACKROUND CONTINUED

• World War II has begun
• Japan starts conquering large masses of land
• The USA places a embargo on Japan, limiting their trading

THE ATTACK

• The morning of Sunday, December 7, 1941at 7:50 AM the attack started
• The first wave consisted of 183 Japanese fighter jets
• 780 American aircraft guns were not armed
• The second wave struck with 168 more Japanese fighter jets a hour later than the first

THE ATTACK CONTINUED

• Japan was attempting to destroy the USA's battle planes oil storage and naval dockyards but did not succeed

THE CASUALTIES

• Several ships were destroyed
• 2,300 military personal were killed
• 1,177 of those people were killed inside of the military ship "Arizona"
• 68 civilians were also killed
• 1000 were injured

THE EFFECT

• December 8, 1941Franklin D. Roosevelt declared war ion Japan
• USA enters WWll and joins the allies
• The attack left Pearl Harbor and all of Hawaii in devestation
• The allies defeat the axis powers in WWll
