Outcome of Pearl Harbor

In a little more than two hours, the Japanese had sunk 21 ships and killed more than 2,000 Americans. It was devastating.


We lost a lot of men that day and now there is a nice memorial for them.

Injured and killed:
The assault, which lasted less than two hours, killed more than 2,500 people, wounded 1,000 more and damaged or destroyed 18 American ships and about 300 airplanes.

What: Japanese planes attacked the U.S. Naval Base at Pearl Harbor
When: Honolulu, Hawaii
Why: Pearl Harbor always sparked the imagination. 3,500 Americans were killed

  • The Japanese forces were led by Vice Admiral Chuichi Nagumo
  • The Japanese fleet consisted of 353 planes that attacked in two waves
  • 2,343 men were killed, 1,272 were wounded and 960 left missing
