Pathogens

Bacteria

  • It is a living organism.
  • It is transmitted through direct and indirect contact.
  • You can prevent contact by having healthy hygiene and washing your hands.
  • It can cause diseases like strep throat.
  • Most diseases that are caused by bacteria are treated with antibiotics.

Fungi

  • Is a living organism and not all of them are bad.
  • You can contract it through touching something contaminated.
  • You can prevent this by washing hands and wearing dry socks.
  • You can catch ringworm and athlete's foot.
  • Those diseases can be treated with creams, shampoos, and medicines.

Parasite

  • Parasites are living organisms.
  • Parasites move on their own from one organism to the next.
  • You can prevent catching a parasite by washing your hands.
  • You could catch malaria or amoebic dysentery.
  • You treat those diseases with medicine or removing the parasite directly.

Virus

  • Viruses are nonliving.
  • You contract them through direct and indirect contact.
  • You can prevent becoming ill by getting vaccinated.
  • You can catch the AIDS, STD s, and even West Nile Virus.
  • They use medicines to treat these diseases.
