VERB

  • A verb shows action or the state being
  • The action can be physically or mentally
  • Examples: She WROTE in her diary
  • Action: run, think, dream
  • State of being: am, are, was

NOUN

  • A noun names...
  • Person, place, thing, or idea
  • Example: her, playground, food, joy
  • The PLAYGROUND was very crowded

ADJECTIVE

  • Adjectives describes a noun or a pronoun
  • Adjectives tell:
  • How many, what kind or which one
  • Examples: Sad, purple, five
  • Example: The TWO puppies were sleeping.

ADVERB

  • An adverb describes:
  • Adjectives, a verb, or another adverb
  • Examples: pefectly, yesterday, here
  • Example:YESTERDAY she walked around the block

PRONOUN

  • A pronoun takes place of a noun
  • Examples:
  • I, me, us, they, we, he, most, that, them, who
  • Example: I saw THEM walking down the street

PREPOSITION

  • Relates nouns or pronouns to another word in sentence
  • Examples:
  • About, beside, over, in, from, with
  • Example: The paper was ABOUT school.

CONJUNCTION

  • A word that conects other words to a group of words
  • Examples: For, and, nor, but, or, yet, so
  • Example: She laughed BUT it was not funny at all.

INTERJECTION

  • An interjection expresses emotion or feelings
  • Examples: Uh-Oh! Ow! Whew! Wow!
  • Example: "Uh-Oh!", he said.
