Parts of a Story

Published on May 19, 2019

Most stories have four important parts to them.

PRESENTATION OUTLINE

There are four parts to a story.

1. The setting is...

  • where the story takes place;
  • it can also be when your story happens (like in the past, present or future).

2. The Main Character

  • The main character is on almost every page.
  • Sometimes you can have more than one.

3. The Problem

  • Most stories have a problem that the main character has to solve.
  • Sometimes there can be little problems on the way to solving the big problem.

4. The Solution

  • That's how the character fixes the problem.
  • In good stories, the main character figures out how to fix the problem him or herself.
