Parables

In Christianity, Jesus teaches in parables. The purpose of his parables is to teach about their obvious meanings, as well as a deeper meaning behind the words about God and his kingdom of Heaven. In the Zen Buddhism religion, the words don't mean exactly what they appear to mean, but the meaning is easily deciphered. They are mean to teach a lesson to everyone about basic morals.

Parable 1 - The Christian Parable

Matthew 18:10-14
See that you do not despise one of these little ones. For I tell you that in Heaven their angels always see the face of my father who is in Heaven. For the Son of Man came to save the lost. What do you think? If a man has a hundred sheep, and one of them has gone astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine on the mountain and go in search of the one that went astray? And if he finds it, truly, I say to you, he rejoices over it than over the ninety-nine that never went astray. So it is no the will of my Father who is in Heaven that one of these little ones should perish.

Zen Parable

Tanzan and Ekido were once traveling together down a muddy road. A heavy rain was still falling.
Coming around a bend, they met a lovely girl in a silk kimono and sash, unable to cross the intersection.
"Come on, girl," said Tanzan at once. Lifting her in his arms, he carried her over the mud. Ekido did not speak again until that night, when they reached a lodging temple. Then he no longer could restrain himself. "We monks don't go near females," he told Tanzan, "especially not young and lovely ones. It is dangerous. Why did you do that?"
"I left the girl there," said Tanzan. "Are you still carrying her?"

In Christianity, followers believe that a man names Jesus of Nazareth is the son of God, and he is God. There is a thing called the Trinity, which is the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Jesus died on the cross to save all of those who believe in him will live forever as children of God. John 3:16 in the bible says, "For God so loved the world that he have his only son, so that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Buddhists believe in the "four noble truths" and the Eightfold path which are the "key to enlightenment" which is basically the goal of Buddhism. Buddhism was founded by an Indian prince names Siddhartha Gautama. He sat under a tree for days and refused to leave until he reached enlightenment. When he arose, he became known as Buddha, hence the name of the religion becoming Buddhism.

The differences between the parables:
The Christian parable is about God's love for all of his children. it means that even when we as humans sin and wander away from God, he doesn't stop loving us.
The Zen parable means to let the past go and to do what is right.
