Parable

by Jovan streater

A parable is a succinct, didactic story, in prose or verse, that illustrates one or more instructive lessons or principles. It differs from a fable in that fables employ animals, plants, inanimate objects, or forces of nature as characters, whereas parables have human characters. A parable is a type of metaphorical analogy.

A parable is also a comparison of two things, often done through a story that has two meanings. Another name for a parable is an allegory. Another name for a parable is an allegory.

An example of a parable is the story about the boy who cried wolf, which is used to teach kids not to lie

Jesus tells over 40 parables, many that are very familiar, such as the Parable of the Good Samaritan or the Parable of the Prodigal Son, two parables that are well known even among many non-Christians.

One of the most famous parables is The Good Samaritan, told by Christ in the Gospel of Luke. In the story, a Jewish traveler is waylaid by thieves and left for dead in a roadway. The next two passersby, both members of the Hebrew clergy, see the man but ignore his plight.
