EXPLANATION
Winston smith works for thr ministry of truth, where they rewrtie history.
He lives in oceania, which is ruled by an oppressive government known as the Party.
he secretly hates the party and wants To Rebel, but is afraid he 's being watched.
Even thoughts can make you a criminal, as thoughtcrime can get you taken away.
Big brother, the party 's omniscient leader, has his image plastered everywhere.
3.
PERSONAL REVIEW
I thought it was pretty good, and really well written.
The story was intriguing, and you were always on edge.
Winston was a good relatable main protagonist.
I'd recommend it to anyone who likes dystopian novels.
4.
SIGNIFICANCE OF TITLE
The year is supposedly 1984, but no one knows for sure.
The party rewrites the past so the real date isn't known.
Winston tries to find out what the resl date is.
However most books have been burned.
Also the older generation has mostly been killed off.
5.
CREATIVE PROJECT
I made a two minute hate video.
The two minute hate lets the people use all their anger.
They use all their anger of living under the party and direct it at enemies.
People will yell and scream, some will even attack the telescreens.
The party uses it to brainwash its populace.
6.
CONTROVERSIAL ISSUE
Can the government change history and the date?
Government control, regulation, and surveillance.
Breaking people to the point where they can't think independently.
Making a language where rebellious thoughts can't be put into words.
Torture.
7.
ANALYSIS OF MAIN CHARACTER
Winston smith works for the ministry of truth.
He rewrites newspapers to glorify the party.
Secretly he hates the government.
One day he writes down in a book, down with big brother.
He then is paranoid the thought police will catch him.
8.
TRUTHS ABOUT HUMAN NATURE
All people want to be free.
Everyone has their breaking point.
People will give up everything for freedom.
