French and Indian War

  • A war over a territory named Ohio Country 
  • The first world war
  • English, French, and Spanish were involved
  • Clash of civilizations over the territory
  • The British end up winning

The Proclamation of 1763

  • A line that King George The 3rd created to 
  • prevent conflict with Native Americans
  • Colonists were mad, because it blocked access 
  • to the Ohio Country, the same territory Britain won for them
  • Colonists were already passing it

Townshend Acts

  • Taxes for everyday goods, created by Charles Townshend
  • Started in 1767-1770
  • Tea, Paper, glass paint exc. were items that were taxed
  • Made colonists angryer
  • All were withdrawn except the Tea tax

QUARTERING Act

  • An act that forces civilians to have solders in their homes 
  • Was created for the huge number of solders in the 
  • colonies after the French and Indian war

Tea Act

  • The last of the Townshend Acts
  • Parlament thought it was great, since it was only one tax 
  • The Bostonians reacted, by dumping tea into the Boston harbor 2 times
  • Made Britain very angry
  • Started the Intolorable acts

INTOLERABLE acts

  • Not it's original name, but colonists called it that because 
  • of the way the acts affected the people
  • Closed down Boston Harbor, 

the boston MASSACRE

  • Colonists throwing snowballs with rocks to British troops
